Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and as a matter of fact various podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have received significant medical education with a stress on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. They are studied to treat conditions ranging from normal conditions like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which furnish them the practical experience required to perform surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or carry out other tasks.
