Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles general medical school and in reality various podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have received substantial medical education with an importance on problems concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are qualified to deal with problems stretching from usual ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which provide them the practical experience essential to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors additionally have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and help prevent many conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
