Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists devote approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and a number of podiatry training programs lie within these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received significant medical training with an attention to on conditions regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address issues varying from commonplace conditions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more complicated such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical education which give them the skill needed to perform surgery on those issues that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and prevent many issues which the feet typically encounter.
