Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in fact a number of podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have obtained significant healthcare training with a stress on difficulties regarding the feet and ankles. They are trained to care for difficulties extending from standard afflictions for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical training which give them the prior experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those issues that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities facilitates a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and prevent a large number of complications which the feet typically encounter.
