Grande Prairie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Grande Prairie specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists invest around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and actually several podiatry programs are contained within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received extensive medical education with a stress on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to treat difficulties varying from simple problems for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which supply them the prior experience needed to perform surgery on those complications that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and help prevent many issues which the feet frequently encounter.
