Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They spend approximately a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and several podiatry programs are located within these institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained extensive medical training with a main focus on issues pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are taught to deal with complications ranging from regular conditions for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more perplexing like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical instruction which provide them the skill essential to carry out surgical treatment on those troubles that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatric doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against many conditions which the feet routinely experience.
