Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote approximately 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and numerous podiatry training programs are contained within these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have gained thorough healthcare training with an attention to on issues regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are qualified to address problems ranging from normal ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more sophisticated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical education which provide them the experience required to execute surgical treatment on those troubles that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatric physician to develop footwear and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of issues which the feet normally encounter.
