Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and a number of podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained extensive health care training with an emphasis on conditions involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are trained to treat complications stretching from general disorders for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more challenging for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical training which supply them the prior experience necessary to perform surgery on those complications that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities permits a Foot doctor to design footwear and orthotics which can give pain relief and reduce the chances of countless complications which the feet frequently encounter.
