Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest an average of 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact numerous podiatry training programs are contained within these academic institutions. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Foot doctors have received extensive medical education with an emphasis on issues involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to deal with concerns stretching from usual conditions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which supply them the experience required to conduct surgical treatment on those troubles that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and defend against a large number of problems which the feet generally encounter.
