Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Airdrie provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They spend an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received comprehensive health care training with a focus on conditions involving the ankles and feet. They are trained to care for complications ranging from standard problems such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more complicated for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical education which give them the experience required to conduct surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Knowing biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Foot doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid many issues which the feet generally experience.
