Airdrie Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists here at The Foot Institute – Airdrie specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They spend around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact quite a number podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received extensive medical education with a main focus on problems regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to treat difficulties varying from typical disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which give them the practical experience required to carry out surgery on those troubles that are ideally managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and protect against many complications which the feet typically experience.
